Just as you reach the mountain hamlet of Government Camp, turn right on the five mile side road that loops upwards to Timberline Lodge. You will feel the altitude   and quite likely a chill, even in summer   when you get out of the car at Timberline. Situated at the 6,000 foot level on the mountain's south slope, the lodge commands a fantastic view of endless forests, distant Cascade summits, and the looming mass of Mount Hood itself. Completed in 1938 by WPA craftsmen using native materials, the 70 room lodge is an architectural masterpiece of massive wood beams and stone. Its soaring lobby, towering fireplaces, and tall picture windows framing the snow covered mountain make an unforgettable impression. Unique hand hewn furniture, tapestries, carvings and oil paintings give the historic lodge a museum like quality. A number of films have been shot at Timberline, including Lost Horizons and The Shining.

Mike Pence (R Ind.), the chief House sponsor of a bill to bar abortion providers such as Planned Parenthood from Title X, has praised a few elements of the program: pregnancy tests, breast cancer screening and HIV testing. He never mentions Title X's essential work for 41 years   to provide information about and access to birth control, which 99 percent of Americans will use in their lifetime.

The increase in Greenhouse gases is sufficiently documented and measured to be settled as well as the cause being human activity. climate change) into the political arena, which has been unfortunate. The correct approach is to combine the efforts of science, environment, technology and economics. By looking at ways to reduce Greenhouse gas emissions with good economics, we would avoid a catastrophy and make considerable progress in energy production and enviromental outcomes. This approach should be (a) lower emissions coal based coal baseload power generation, (b) using CO2 as a raw material for value added products, (c) competitive renewables for intermediate and perhaps peak power generation, and (d) providing leading edge baseload power technology to developing nations like India and China, to achieve a constant and gradual decrease in Greenhouse gases concentations in the atmosphere.
